Harvest Moon

September 16th, 2008

This week I joined the Meetup.com organization “Shoot Miami” for a group shoot of the harvest moon. When we first arrived we had calculated the moonrise time and position from several astronomical websites and were extremely confused when the time came and went without a moon. After all the moon isn’t a Miami Bus; you should know when and where it is. Finally the moon popped out over a cloud which was blending perfectly into the sky and our night of moon shooting began.

OSU vs OU

September 5th, 2008

I prefer to remember this game as it was in the middle of the third quarter: OSU 12, OU 14.

I had the great opportunity to see my Ohio University Bobcats take on the 3rd best team in the country, Ohio State. Thanks to Dr. Richard Suk for getting me an all access press pass so I could photograph the band, the cheerleaders, the crowd, and, at one point, the clouds in the sky.

I’m not a huge football fan, but even I was enormously proud of my school. We held in there with the best of the best for the entire game. In fact, though the end score doesn’t show it, we were winning for more than half of the game.

My Newphew

This year I became a proud uncle. My sister lives up in Virginia, so I don’t get to visit very often. After the break are some photos from an improvised photo shoot we had inbetween feedings and trips to the bars.

Dave Gallagher’s 40th Birthday Party

September 1st, 2008

This weekend I flew to Atlanta to celebrate the 40th birthday of my good friend and colleague Dave Gallagher. The festivities were orchestrated by his beautiful wife Christine. Her expertise as a wedding photographer and her exquisite taste showed in the wonderful attention to detail. In the end of course it is the people, and not the decorations, that set the tone of a party, and the wonderful collection of photographers, family, and friends made for an excellent evening that will long be remembered.

More photos after the break.
